IS: PHIL RIZZUTO FOR THE MONEY STORE
Hi City Slickers,
Who is Phil Rizutto?
And what the hell was the Money Store?
A little bit of info
on good ole Phil:
Born: Sept. 25, 1918
Baseball info: MVP with the Yankees in 1950; 5-time All-Star; retired
in 1956 and became Yankees radio
and television announcer; elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1994.
Nickname: "The Scooter"
Position: Short stop
Catch phrase: Holy Cow!
Turn On: Lederhosen
Book: O Holy Cow!: The Selected Verse of Phil Rizzuto (1993)
And the Money Store:
Best known for giving
loans to people with poor credit. The Money Store was also a
longtime leader in approving federally guaranteed loans for small businesses.
The Money Store spent about $40 million annually on television advertising,
to get customers to call its 1-800-LOAN-YES phone number. I believe Phil
Rizzuto has morphed into that annoying guy with the question marks all
over his suit yelling and ranting about getting government loans for small
businesses. He's kind of like Carrot Top.
Enough about football.
Get your groove on for the momentous, potentially warm June evening. NYC's
own Rheingold bottles at $3 a pop; Ghetto Blaster, Staten Island Fairy
and Roosevelt Island Tramp - $3 shots, $4 drinks. And of course, DJ S.L.Y.
with the finest tuneage in town.
